22 year old Jessie Logan is a shy, minister's daughter who relocates from a suburban NE town to beautiful Paradise, Ga to be with her best friend, Melissa Turner after a string of bad relationships. It was her chance to start fresh in a place where no one knows her. It was her last year of college and 

she promised herself she was going to concentrate on getting her degree and wanted no distractions. Especially the romantic kind.

Eric McCaffrey, small town divorce attorney, is stuck in an unhappy marriage with no way out unless he wants to lose his daughter. He never wanted to be a divorce attorney. Civil law was where the money was, but he found himself stuck in a job that he wasn't sure was going to go any further.

The two accidentally collide in the diner where Jessie works, and again at a weekend getaway.

As they become friends, they can't deny the growing attraction between them. Eric doesn't disclose the fact that he's married, only separated. On a hot, humid evening, when they are supposed to be watching a ballgame, they end up having sex. Things become complicated. She thinks he used her. He feels guilty for cheating. But neither can fight what they feel and they embark on a hot, passionate affair. He can't bring himself to tell her and the more time that passes, the harder it gets. Eventually he leaves his wife, but by the time he feels he doesn't have to admit his lies, everything blows up.
